How To Increase Your Sales With Focused Networking

Posted by | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 29-09-2009

If you’re a smaller business, then networking is a huge way that you can market your business and increase your sales without spending a fortune on advertising.

Networking can be a great way yo grow any small business and gives your the ability to make connection with not only potential customers but more importantly with potential fusion partners that you can work with to cross promote.

Too many people just starting out with networking their business have the wrong idea about how to make it as effective as possible. They come in for the kill and don’t make the best use of the time networking with other people in the room.

If you want to make the most of any networking opportunity that comes your way, then just follow these simple steps and you’ll make it a very effect way to increase your sales.

1. Show up with a purpose in mind
You’re not really there to socialize. Yes the idea is to be social and build relationships but you need to have a goal in mind of what you really want to accomplish with the event.

Do you want to meet 3 new potential clients?
Do you want to make one more partner relationship?

You need to be able to walk out of the meeting knowing you got something positive out of it.

2. It’s not just a Good ‘ol Boys club
It doesn’t matter what type of event it is, you need to make it your main goal to meet at least one new person.

If you’ve been there for a while and know most everyone there, you need to make it your goal to introduce yourself to anyone that is new to the group. Introduce them to the others that they might want to meet. Find out more about them and what they do.

This is a great way to stand out and be known as the nice guy that helped them out. You’ll get a ton of business just because of this simple gesture.

3. Follow up
This doesn’t end when the even if over. Be sure to get business cards from everyone you meet and … FOLLOW UP.

This is the most important part of the process. If doesn’t do any good to go to an event and meet a couple of people but to never do anything after the event.

Email them the next day telling them how nice it was to meet them. Invite them to meet you for coffee or lunch. Get to know them.

Remember this isn’t just to pitch your stuff. It’s really to build a relationship with them and get to know them as well as to let them get to know you.

That’s really all there is to it. It’s not that hard but I see people all the time going to events and nly chatting with the people they already know and not really growing their connections. That’s not business, that’s hanging out.

Take control and make sure that you make the most of every single event that you go to in order to use

networking as a great way to increase your sales and really make it worth your time.

The #1 Mistake That Will Sabotage Your IT Marketing Plan

Posted by | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 29-09-2009

There is a very common mistake that I see IT service providers making when it comes to marketing their business. It’s unfortunate for any IT company, because in doing so he or she is actually REPELLING business rather than attracting it.

I am talking about IT business owners who cannot answer the question “What Do You Do?” It sounds silly, but take a look in your local yellow page book and glance over the IT ads. You’ll find a wonderful array of vague, boring ads that list out general facts, offer all kinds of ”off topic” services, and lack any ounce of uniqueness, intrigue, or emotional response.

You see, marketing is the art of motivating people to buy your product or service. To effectively motivate someone, you have to communicate to them in terms that he or she will relate and RESPOND to.  This involves knowing WHO you are taking to and WHAT they actually care about.

Nobody cares how about boring facts about your company. What they care about is specifically what results or benefits they will get if they buy your technology product or service. Period!  To do this, you have to properly plan and craft your marketing message in specific language that will hit home with your targeted prospects.

The problem that I am seeing, and it’s wasting a countless number of marketing dollars, is that too many IT guys are in business for themselves without doing any real work researching their target market, developing a USP, and crafting their marketing message. They ‘fly by the seat of their pants,’ and when someone puts them on the hot seat and asks “what do you do?” they can’t deliver an answer that’s memorable, sparks some interest, and generates word of mouth.

Instead of having a few powerful responses handy, the average IT guy is unprepared and begins to spit out boring facts about the services they offer, how long they’ve been in business, and what certifications they have, etc, etc. The problem with this type of answer is it doesn’t answer the question “What’s in it for me?” That’s really all anyone cares about when they ask “What do you do?”

When you resort to using boring facts as the centerpiece to your marketing, you are effectively making your company appear to be no different than your competitors. When you can’t differentiate yourself from your competition, prospects will assume that since your marketing is the same your SERVICES must be the same, and they will lose interest.

This is also how you get shopped on price. If you market your company exactly like your competition, than the only thing different WILL be your price. Your services become simple commodities and you give buyers no other option but to base their buying decision off of the price.

The key to preventing this from happening to your IT consulting company is to:

  1. Focus your marketing around the results that your services provide.
  2. Make a list of 4 or 5 specific benefits your clients can expect to gain after you perform your service.
  3. Make a list of 7 or 8 specific aspects about your company that are unique and set you a part from your competition (e.g. – 24/7 service, free support hotline, 2 hour response time, remote desktop service work, etc.)
  4. Be specific in your ads and avoid using any vague or clique terminology.

As soon as you start being specific in your ads, avoiding vague/clique terminology, focusing on results, and listing out unique aspects about your company, you will notice that your clients will immediately stop focusing on price. You will also appear to be different and SUPERIOR to your competitors. You will have instant credibility and prospects will view you as competent guru in your field.

So the next time someone asks you “what do you do” make sure you have a good answer.

Is This The Right Home Based Business For Me?

Posted by | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 26-09-2009

Have you ever asked yourself if this is the right home based business for me? I asked myself the same question after I had failed in a several home based businesses that I thought were great. You can work very hard, expending time, energy, even money, but if it’s the wrong business, it’s all wasted. Or better said in this quote by Peter Drucker, author of The Successful Executive: “There is nothing so useless as doing efficiently that which should not be done at all.” So after a lot of research here are key points to check before you invest your energies in a home based business:

Is the compensation model right for you? Do you want a retail model with instant income and no residual income? Or the residual income stream in the future and modest income now? Are there bonuses for quick income?

Are they unique? Do they have products and services that are in demand in today’s market and have proprietary or patented formulas or features that make them unique?

Where is the company going? Are they focused on retaining customers or just recruiting as fast as possible, no matter what? Are they developing new products; do you see progress in the company?

Are they publicly traded or are they privately owned? There are benefits both ways; one just has to evaluate the company and their merits considering the value of control, flexibility, public disclosure and bureaucracy.

How long has the company been in business? The latest statistic is that 85% of new companies fail within the first 5 years. And of the 15 left, another 85% of them will fail. It pays to do your due diligence to check out the company. Gives you an idea if they will be one of the 2 or 3 companies that are left after 10 years.

Do they help and support their distributors or affiliates? Are they proactive? Focusing on the positive? Have great customer service?

Do you love it? When the day is over, are you still excited? Are you passionate about the benefits of your program and how it will help you and the people you recruit? If not, it will be a very tough row to hoe. If the answer is unoquivically yes, and 1-6 are answered to your liking, you have a winner and yes you are with the right company.

Now your only question after you have concluded that you have the right company and services for your home based business is how do you market it? How to find prospects that actually want what you have?

Head Sweatbands – Amazing Promo Product

Posted by | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 26-09-2009

The more simple your artwork is, the better your head sweatbands will work as a promotional items. Your artwork will determine how people respond to your headbands. They may say they like the artwork, but really it’s the unconsious part of it we care about. They will be able to easily store a mental picture of what they are seeing, instead of chaos, which they will most likely forget. Consider all the greatest brands in the world, one thing they all have in common is a simple logo. This is not an accident. People don’t want to think, they just want to buy, and that’s why a simple logo is key. It’s not “game over” if you have a more complex logo. Complex logos are still possible by using a method called heat printing. Embroidery is recommended over hear printing for head sweatbands. We’ll get into that discussion later. One color logo’s stick out the best, as a rule i would say to use no more than 3 colors. Head sweatbands for your events will be captured in images, which these days can spread all over the net to promote your brand.

What Should You Choose: Embroidered versus Heat Printed

Basically, when your design is embroidered it will be attached directly onto your head sweatbands. If your logo is simple enough to embroider than I would recommend that. Mainly, because it is more long-lasting when washing and re-using the sweatbands. However, with heat printing technology almost any logo is possible, which is very nice. If you have difficult artwork for the head sweatbands than i would recommend heat printing. On the downside, heat printing usually has a very high minimium because of the costly digital procedure. You will be putting more cash into this method and will most likely only be able to use this product a few times. An embroidered head sweatbands can be washed many times and will last you a lot longer.

How should I use these promo products?

If you give out your head sweatbands for free at the event, than your promotion will be more successful. The best types of events are ones that are outside, based on sports, musicians, or a fun cause. It’s important to give these head sweatbands out right off the bat, so people know that your organization exsists. Tell them to wear the headbands all day to participate in different events. Nearly everyone that gets a head band will wear it, especially on a hot day. If you have an MC than it is also ok to give them the headbands to throw out to the crowd in-between acts. For spiking the crowds attention this work great and is good PR for your company. Head sweatbands with your artwork will be on everyone head at the end of the day, not to mention all the picture’s they will be in.

Custom Head Sweatbands

The best combination when creativing head sweatbands is cotton material and an embroidered logo. It’s best to keep it simple when submitting your design, even though a lot of custom places will through a bunch of options at you. If you take one thing from this remember that being simple will do your promotional campaign wonders. As mentioned earlier the majority of people respond better and remember a simple logo more than they would a complex one. You should be concentrated on a smooth campaign that will help grow your brand in the coming months, years, and decades.

Advantages of niche marketing

Posted by | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 26-09-2009

One of the biggest mistakes entrepreneurs make is attempting to market their product or service to a giant general market instead of concentrating on a little niche market.  As a marketing advisor, getting my clients to concentrate on a niche market is the most difficult part of my job.  Whenever I tell a client that they must start off tiny and focus on a specialized niche market, my client almost always says, But I think everybody could use my product and if I limit my market, I am going to get fewer sales. Then my reply is, OK, if you want to advertise your product to the world, how many millions of dollars do you’ve got to invest in regional, countrywide and international advertising campaigns? Then I am getting a blank stare or the telephone goes quiet.

To be successful in today’s hyper-competitive, over-advertised market, you absolutely must target your business and selling on serving a specialised and ideally tiny niche market.  This is especially true and a matter of survival if you have a little selling budget.  If you ignore this advice and try to market to a massive general market before first becoming successful in 1 little niche market, I can assure you that you’ll soon go broke and be into Chapter 11.  However, if you do decide to concentrate on serving a small niche market, you greatly increase your odds for business success with much less risk.

So what’s a slot market?  A focused market is group of consumers or firms that all have a very precise need.  As an example, let’s imagine you sell fancy and reasonably expensive parrot cages.  Your niche market consists of folks that own parrots, and especially people who own parrots and earn an income massive enough that they can afford to purchase your fancy parrot cages.

On the other hand, if you decide to promote your fancy parrot cages to everybody in the united states who owns a bird, you are selling to a pretty large general market and the money you spend on promoting will be wasted because nearly all the people who will see your promoting won’t have a need or interest in buying a costly parrot cage.  Yes, that sound you simply heard is the sound of your money being flushed down the john because you ignored niche promoting.

Here is another example.  Let’s say you invent a new kind of ergonomic chair.  This chair is very comfortable and truly helps folk who suffer from lumbar region agony.  Now, what most inventors would do when they come to me to market their product is they might say, everybody will need my ergonomic chair.  I need to first market it nationally and then to the world. Then I ask my famous query of how much money do they have for promoting, and I’m told it’s a couple thousand dollars.  So, my client wants me to launch a countrywide marketing campaign for a brand spanking new product no-one has ever heard of and I am expected to do this with about a thousand dollars.  Not going to occur.

My advice for the easiest way to market this new ergonomic chair product is to market it to a particularly specialized niche market and there are several to choose from.  The key is finding the market that most wishes this product as well as can afford this product.  One niche market to consider would be to market the chair to assisted living centers for the elderly.  Another niche market is chiropractors who could sell this chair directly to their patients that suffer from lumbar region agony.  There are many other niche markets that could be considered too.  The key’s to determine who has got the most desperate need for your product or service and then focus your marketing on that niche market.  If you are still confused, do this test.  Find the people who stay up at night worrying about the issue your service or product solves and you have already found your niche market.

Online blogging rush

Posted by | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 26-09-2009

Many eyes are now headed towards screens of all kinds whether it was a PC, laptop or even mobile.

There seem to be no escape from seeing and here or there, calculating the percentage of actually seeing an ad during your every day routines, you would find that the numbers hit the roof and that’s just for starters; the accurate numbers are very wild and unbelievable.

What are the odds of accidently browsing a webpage without finding a single ad? I find that impossible to happen and very unlikely. It’s like a one in a million shot, regardless that heavy internet users may browse hundreds of pages a day and in some cases it could be thousands.

We are compelled to think about those numbers and wonder who benefits from this phenomenon. And how do they benefit? And the most important of all how to be a benefiter in this widely open market?

Every thing in life starts with a simple form then it gets complicated over time, as all things huge and most powerful websites and networks started in a very simple form and the best example that comes to my mind now is the great Google; many people may not know this, but Google started in a garage with only two computers! Could you imagine back then the size of Google’s domination over the entire web nowadays? I mean how many millions of people use Google’s search engine every day? And how many website, blogs or forums integrate Google’s Adsense? Frankly I couldn’t tell I don’t believe that even Google could tell.

In my personal opinion the very seed of online success is BLOGGING; as it will give you the experience you would need to start expanding, I now encourage every and each internet user or online browser to stop being only a receiver and start leaving their footmark the way they prefer.

Blogging is vastly useful, not only it’s free, but also it gives you a free of risk chance to try the impact of your targeted content on your visitors and developing it to increase your targeted traffic, in other words it gives you the chance to start your own ground base of the upcoming website or may be network.

So people you need to start now and waste no time use blogger or wordpress most importantly use something

Marketing your way through the recession with SEO

Posted by | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 26-09-2009

In this downturn, nearly every business is trying to find paths to either cut down on expenses, or my favourite, increase revenue. A way to increase possibilities of your own solvency is to diversify and have multiple ways to generate income or leads. Online there are plenty of ways for possible customers to find you and become customers. An often-overlooked or misunderstood tool for doing this is search engine optimization or SEO.

Part of SEO is the method of creating content and links to your web site. The idea is that when anyone types a word or phrase associated with your business into a search engine, your company ranks high on the list. You want to rank in the top ten web sites because they’re the internet sites that users click on the most.

Unlike bought advertisements, each page of your internet site or each press release or blog post is an opportunity for folk to get info about you. Or to find your site. Unlike bought adverts the work you do is permanent it doesn’t stop generating visitors you after you stop paying ( or working ). The SEO work you do now will still provide advantage to you in 2 years from now or long after the recession ends.

The best part about SEO is that it is lower cost and very effective. The return on your investment over the long-term is excellent. You can learn many of the techniques or pay executives to work with you in deciding and implementing the best system. There’s a learning curve ( some simply outsource lots of the more mundane pieces like adding your internet site to directories ) but the payoff over time is worth the effort.

Most companies are already ranking well in search engines for their brand name and branded terms. For example : we rank one for the term OrangeSoda. Obviously that doesn’t help us if someone wants search engine optimization services who have not heard about our business name. If they go to Google and write in those words we would like them to come to us. We want to rank well for every one of the services we offer.

Many businesses do not rank well for phrases that folks search on ( there is requirement for ) associated with their business. This is intended to capture folks ( or other businesses ) who do not know about you but are on the lookout for the goods you offer.

People are actively trying to find information online and are researching the market to resolve a problem or find a product. Ideally you are producing well-optimized content that educates possible clients so when they are ready to make a decision, they find you. You may also build trust so they consider giving you their business.

As you rank high for phrases in search engines, you will get more folks coming to your internet site. You will have more paths to reach them. You’ll have search results with a variety of links from credible sources. SEO can also help you fine tune your selling and messaging.

The internet is dynamic and virtually real time so it’s a good way to keep a pulse on business and your potential clients. Just using a keyword tool or a tool like SpyFu will help you understand what people are looking for and who your competition are. Then you can apply SEO to be high on the list of businesses that provide those services.

Each business and web site is different and their SEO desires can be basic or more sophisticated. Here is a basic outline of making a search engine optimized website:

*Identify terms that people are on the lookout for that apply to your business.

*determine the demand and competition for those terms.

*See where you rank in the most commonly used search engines for those keywords.

*Look at your website structure and making sure it’s optimal for search engines to find and index each webpage of your web site.

*Every subpage is a chance for someone to locate your internet site.

*Keep creating searchterm-rich material.

*Create links to the diverse webpages ( content ) using keywords as the text of the link.

This is an ongoing process of tweaking and building your web site with valuable material that search engines like. Each good SEO company should appraise your website and come up with ways to help booster your rankings. This may increase traffic to your internet site and your visibility on the web. It’s a sensible investment and one that each business with a website should think about especially in rough business times.

Seven Ways to Get the Most from Your Trade Show Investment

Posted by | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 26-09-2009

Getting the most out of your trade show marketing efforts means making smart decisions from the beginning. In fact, maximizing your ROI entails a combination of planning for cost efficiencies, promoting your presence effectively and following through with the contacts you’ve made. These seven tips will help to reduce costs, increase traffic, and ultimately—increase results.

1.      Set measurable goals. Keep your trade show goals straightforward, measurable, and realistic to achieve. Are you seeking to connect with new prospects, existing clients, or potential partners? If you want to improve brand awareness —how will you measure it? You may need a follow-up survey to see how many attendees remember your exhibit.

2.      Promote your presence. Attendees often plan their visit to a trade show in advance. Your pre-show marketing should focus on giving visitors a good reason to put your display on their must see list. You’ll get more mileage from an integrated marketing plan includes pre-, at- and post- show elements. Allocate 10-15% of your budget for marketing.  Purchase the pre-registered attendee list for promotion, add conference information to your website, offer VIP passes to clients, offer a giveaway that has value to attendees. Product/stage/theater demonstrations are among the highest ranking factors for influencing attendee memorability. And don’t forget the press release—new products make great news stories.

3.      Plan ahead. By planning ahead, it’s possible to reduce the cost of onsite trade show services. Ship ground vs. air freight to the advance warehouse rather than direct to show site for a bigger discount on drayage. Place your service orders early to receive discounts off of at-show rates. And try to schedule your set-up labor for hours which will be billed at straight time.

4.      Lighten up. When selecting a display property, think lightweight to save on shipping and drayage costs. Hybrid trade show displays, like Nomadic’s DesignLine series, fuse light weight components such as pop-ups, laminated panels, extrusion, tension fabric and graphics to deliver dynamic presentations at a fraction of the weight of traditional custom-built exhibits. Consolidate shipments to optimize dimensional weight. Send literature to prospects post-event instead of shipping it to the show.

5.     Attract more visitors. Within three seconds, visitors decide whether or not they will stop at your trade show exhibit. Design a display that clearly and immediately communicates what your company has to offer and what it can do for the customer. An open design that is easily accessible, welcomes potential clients and provides easy visitor traffic flow. A general rule is to ensure that at least 60% of the floor space is open and at least 60% of the frontage is open. Fill the height limit at the center of your space to maximize your presence. Keep key messaging above the 4-foot height on the backwall for maximum readability.

6.      Train your staff. Even seasoned booth staff should know the show objectives, key messaging and lead system protocol for the show. Visitors should be greeted by an enthusiastic rep who can leverage the exhibit as a sales tool. Remind staff that first impressions matter. First impressions are created by what people see, what people hear and the words you use.

7.      Follow-up. This is the most important step in maximizing your ROI.  Research indicates that 90% of business gained from leads comes from post show follow-up, yet 70-80% of leads are not pursued. Ask your sales team what key data they need captured from prospects as they will be motivated to follow-up on pre-qualified opportunities. Establish accountability for lead handling prior to the show. Appoint an individual to be responsible for capturing and processing leads. Consider categorizing or ranking your leads. Disperse leads quickly and make contact within one week.
