Managing Dental Practices: the 3 Major Problems Facing Most Dentists Today… and How You Can Solve Them!

Posted by | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 15-10-2009

Today, dentists are facing 3 major problems in managing their dental practices. These major problems could serve as a great hindrance in them, and managing their dental practices means that they are looking for any available means in looking for ideas and strategies that they can have. And so we at Dental Profits can assure you that we can help you as you face this challenges… and become successful in your dental practice. And this is something we focus specifically at our website for managing dental practices!

Now, here are the 3 problems in managing your dental practices that you should be aware of:

First Problem: First, it’s all about the competition. Now, this competition is growing because dentists are starting to realize that they can’t take their practice to the next level unless they start to: (1) increase the number of new patients (or quality of their patients) that are seen every month; (2) increase the amount of referrals; and (3) increase the time the each patient spends with them in their office. ( Now, this can be both a good news and a bad news… good news for those dentists who know how to do these in their practice, and bad news for those dentists who don’t!).

Second Problem: Second, the society that we live in is oversaturated with marketing and advertising messages. That’s right! And this means that when you start to market your practice and services, you’re not just competing with all the other dentists; but competing with EVERY business, commercial, and media advertisement that is currently “flooding” the marketplace. Now that’s one tough competition! Now, the problem here is that since we are so over-sold and over-marketed to the public, our prospective patients are becoming more and more skeptical than ever before, as they are becoming more and more hesitant to respond to marketing or ads.

Third Problem: Third, it’s the recession. You see, for as long as we are in Iraq, Afghanistan, chasing down terrorists, and dealing with Middle Eastern Issues, there will always be a recession going all around us. The real estate market has dropped by over 22% in the past year, and worse thing is there is no recovery seen in sight! Go to “Google” and type in the keywords “National Consumer Spending” and read the headlines, and you’ll notice that every country is seeing dramatic declines in consumer spending. Although it doesn’t mean that our economy will not be able to come back, but it does mean that its future of the U.S. economy is at this time uncertain.

So, despite all of these 3 major problems that dentists are facing today, we at Dentist Profits can really help you gain new and effective ideas and solutions to every problems that you face in managing your dental practices. Dental Practices: Thinking and Growing Rich Pt. 2 – Getting Clear of What Your Goals Really Are

Posted by | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 13-10-2009

In my other article on dental practices, I gave you the strategy on how to set the best goals effectively in your practice. I talked about doing your exercise and write your top 5 goals and go exercise again. Now this is very important for the whole process in achieving your goals for your dental practices. In this article, I will teach you how to make clear of what your goals really are. To achieve success in the business of your dental practices, you need to make sure that you really know what your goals are and make sure that you do them successfully. And this is something we focus specifically at our dental practice website!

Now, here’s what you’re going to do. I want you to take your No.1 goal, write it down whatever it was (like for example: I want to earn; or I want to earn a hundred thousand dollars a year; or I want to earn over a million dollars a year; whatever your goal is for your dental practices). The whole idea here is that you have to first of all get really clear with what your first goal really is! Now with this No.1 goal, I want you then to write down 5 to 10 of those ideas or action steps. Say for example: your No. 1 goal is “I want to earn a million dollars a year”, so what are the first five things I can do today to make that happen? So it goes out like this:

Goal No. 1: I want to earn a million dollars a year.

* Idea 1/ Action Step 1

* Idea 2/ Action Step 2

* Idea 3/ Action Step 3

* Idea 4/ Action Step 4

* Idea 5/ Action Step 5

Now when you do this, you’ll going to have more ideas, and they just keep on coming! You just write them all out. Then I want you to encircle the number 1 and number 2 ideas or action steps. So what you need to keep in mind is that when you have an idea or action step and you want to see an end result, we take action instantly and we take multiple actions simultaneously! And this is because you would want stuff going on and on. And here’s the thing that’s going to happen: when you’ll look at this No.1 goal, you’ll going to have certain things come up. Your doubts and limiting factors will arise, and questions like “I wasn’t able to do that before, how can I do it now?” will pop in to your mind. Now what I advise you to do is get rid of those thoughts, because you wouldn’t want them to hinder you in achieving that certain goal! You have to block those thoughts out. Remember this: you need to be mentally tough and say to yourself, “Well, it may not have happened in the past but today is different, I’m a new person, I’m making new choices, and I’m going to make this stuff happen!”. So stay with that kind of focus, do that exercise like I’m telling you to do, and I guarantee you that over the next few weeks or few months (or maybe even immediately!), you’ll going to see results in your life. Do this, and you’ll going to have massive results in your life and in your dental practices as well!

Managing Dental Practices: Doctor Reveals How He Promotes His Dental Practices

Posted by | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 12-10-2009

In this article, a doctor (our client at Dentist Profits) reveals how he is managing his dental practices. He will share to you the many ways and strategies on how to promote your practice as you are managing your dental practices. And this is something that we focus specifically at our managing dental practices website!

How our client is managing his dental practices:

In managing my dental practices, I developed systems that I leverage and tweak everyday. One is that for our Christmas event, we held this year a program called “Knock-Out Kid’s Cavities”. It was a cavity screening and I did it with the DIAGNOdent laser off-site to a bunch of Hispanic lower income area at a zoo. We screened like a thousand patients in just one day… and it was crazy! It was kind of those medical tours or things where you do a bunch of attractions and you donate time in Guatemala. We just had something like that, and we just had them lined up. They were all there for this “studio” thing, and then as a second bonus they got to see the dentist and the patients were a bunch of kids and the parents loved it, and basically it tied in very well with the “knocking out of kids cavities”. And then I got a letter from Sta. Ana, talking about the event. And so this letter goes into a book that I have created for my dental practices… and so this is a kind of leveraging for the things that I do in our office.

As for the book that I have mentioned, it is made inspired with the “Navigator”. For the cover, I had the idea from Dr. Dolson… and I used it (that’s what the navigator’s all about; it’s all about the sharing of ideas and using those ideas in managing your dental practices). In Dr. Dolson’s original format, he paid some nice graphic artist to do something fancy. Then I “stole” it, leveraged it, milked it, put in my patients, put it on the cover of my book… and I had all my stacks and photos and all the cases that I’ve been doing through the years put into it. You know, if you’re into dentistry as much as I am, I’m sure every doctor in here has that stuff laying around, and it shouldn’t be sitting in the back of the office or on the computer! You need to set up a little book, and just constantly having your testimonials and all those things from your patients. As for testimonials, I got a bunch of them. For me, I do mine in different styles. We have snail-mail testimonials, handwritten testimonials, e-mail testimonials (which I sent one to Ed)… and to top all of that, I also have a website that leverages all of the testimonials.

In managing my dental practices, I did the phenomenal health show that’s another new thing that I did since the last Super Conference. We had a system set up where we can go in and become the expert! In here, we made commercials where I spent $75.00 for half an hour. So that’s a pretty good amount of time on cable access. What I’m doing is that I’m leveraging that in the office. This thing is on the loop 24/7! Another thing is that I write dental letters, send it out and have people send it to their friends. Then I give them a $5.00 gas card if they e-mail me back with any feedback. And what I’m doing is all of a sudden I’m getting all these stuff and this isn’t costing me a cent (other than the initial investment). So this is my favorite one.

In managing my dental practices, Ed always tell me this: “You need to identify what it is that’s working for you”. And I say that this is what’s working for me! I just do these unique activities…. and I enjoy it as it really works for me in my dental practices!

Managing Dental Practices: Doctor From Maryland Talks About the Things He Learned in Joining Dentist Profits

Posted by | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 12-10-2009

Joining Dentist Profits in managing my dental practices is, I can really say, the best decision that I have made in my career as a dentist. As I joined this club for managing my dental practices, I have learned a lot of important things to keep you going in your dental practices. I have also learned about the importance of teamwork in the practice. And this is something that Ed focuses specifically at their managing dental practices website!

First, I have learned to set goals and benchmarks in managing my dental practices. So, if you set goals and benchmarks to your team, you make them accountable. You also get team trainings, for example training sessions with Wendy Briggs (of Hygiene Diamonds), Continue education (C.E.), Sedation Dentistry, Implant Dentistry
, and adding services like those that your practice can really explode your growth! And then there’s also the power of the “mastermind”. The “Mastermind” is where dentists gather their ideas about how to go with the business successfully and how to achieve goals efficiently. And it’s on the “navigator”. All you have to do is to really take in somebody else’s idea, implement it in your own dental practice, steal it and then tweak it. And it’s there for you and it’s for free! All you have to do is just take it down so you got a system that ties these things.

And I have always learned that teamwork is really necessary in managing your dental practices… that you can never do it alone. In my case before, I tried doing things alone and gave my best to it… but it just wasn’t enough. I was trying to do it all but I just can’t. I realized that if you’re the doctor who’s trying to do the dentistry, run the practice, and do your marketing, you can’t do it all by yourself… you got to hire somebody, you got to outsource some of the stuff and it will happen. So when I started to get people/staff in my practice, that’s when my practice really started to take off!

In managing my dental practices, I have incentives in my office for every action. The office have developed a system to give an incentive to the office and get them moving in that direction. And it makes my job easier; I’d be moving in that direction, and I’ll always be kind of pulling and holding the team back. We also have meetings and conferences. This is where you got to brainstorm and talk to other people and get their ideas, and get them into your office as well! I mean, I can’t tell you how many ideas I’ve gotten just for a 1 minute conversation with someone saying like “Oh you need to do this. And you need to do it. Here’s the information, and the number of the person you got to contact…”. And it just changes the practice’s direction! Although in here you may take inch and inch of improvement, in the end it all adds up, and it starts moving the practice by leaps and bounds!

In managing your dental practices, it is also necessary to take into consideration the staff motivation and compensation. Your net profit is tied to your performance and your ability to leverage yourself. Shouldn’t your staff be compensated the same way? You got to get them thinking that they’re a part of this business too… and they’re not just any other employee; but they have to take ownership and every action in the office as a direct effect on your ability to produce. So I tried to do that with my staff and get them really jazzed up about everything that they do. Teamwork in the business is really important as well.

So, in joining Dentist Profits in managing my dental practices, I have learned many things that can benefit me. Get your office to move in one direction, always value and go for teamwork… and achieve your goals and success in your dental practices!

Thinking and Growing Rich Pt. 1 – How to Set the Best Goals Effectively in Your Practice

Posted by | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 10-10-2009

In dental practices, you need to set the best goals that you can have in your practice. Now the question is: how do you do this? This is something we focus specifically at our dental practice website for the success of your dental practices. In this article I have something special for you on how to set your goals for your dental practices and you’re not going to learn this anywhere else!

Now, everybody talks about the whole concept of thinking and growing rich. Actually, it was the famous book written by Napoleon Hill. It was a concept on how successful people get their best strategies and how it happens. And this can be applicable to your dental practices as well. Last week, one of my clients asked me: Ed, what does your ideal day look like and what does your ideal week look like? My answer to that is in reality, I spend a lot of the time away from the office and out of the office purposefully by strategy because (take note of this!) you’re best thinking will always come when you’re not in the place that you “exist” the most! Now you might have heard people say that the best ideas come while you’re in the shower or while you’re working out, and it’s because your mind is relaxed and it has a lot of capacity to think well. In my case, I spend a lot of time in the car, going from place to place, listening to stuff, just even walking or exercising, and i do my best thinking there. One of the things that I really like to do a lot is set my goals and then get away from it for a little bit. When you get out of your everyday environment, you disassociate yourself from your stress, anxiety in dealing with your staff, your kids, etc.; and then you get to think clearly which allows you to perform on high level, and this is very important! That’s why people go to starbucks just to think, and even though the surrounding is loud, it is outside the existing environment, so they get to think well.

So, here’s the strategy that I want you to do for your dental practices. I want you to take out a piece of paper, a pad, and simply write down your top ten goals on that piece of paper, 1 – 10 (or if you don’t get to reach 10, you can go for 5). And then what I want you to do there is I want you to do:

* one for income;

* one for health;

* one for overall growth of the practice or whatever is it that you’re doing;

* one for relationships; and

* one for your big, big dream that if you know you couldn’t fail then you’d accomplish it!

Write these down, and then I want you to take it, then write it down again two times. Then what you do is you take one piece of the copy, put it in the top drawer in your bedroom, or by your nightstand and just stick it in the drawer. Then for the other piece of copy, I want you to put it in a binder or put it somewhere close where you get to see it in a daily basis. Then go exercise! That’s right, go exercise! It could be a walk, a jog, a bike ride, a combination of a walk and bike, it doesn’t matter! Then I want you to go do something where when you start it you’re only thinking of your goals, and as you exercise, think about each goal one after another, after another, and after another. If you need to bring that piece of paper with you then do so. It doesn’t have to be anything stressful, just go out for a walk and see what kind of energy and excitement this creates for you. Test that out, and I promise you, you’ll discover a hidden power amongst that whole concept of thinking and growing rich!
